This year, the Smart Systems Conference is opening its doors again.
Are you enrolled in a technology or business program at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences? Are you interested in “smart systems” and currently working on an exciting project or writing your bachelor’s or master’s thesis in this field? Then now is your chance: Submit a poster about your work and present it to an audience of experts at the 13th Smart Systems Conference. A highlight: The best posters will receive awards!
When and where?
The conference will take place on November 18 and 19, 2026, at the Sonnenstraße Campus. This year’s theme is “Making Energy, Mobility, IT, and AI Resilient—But How?” Experience exciting presentations by experts from renowned companies and research institutions, such as DEW21, Atos, Materna, BTO Management Consulting, DFKI, and Fraunhofer IMS, and join the discussion with your contribution! How?
The Poster Competition
We cordially invite you to participate in our poster competition. The goal is clear: We want to showcase your work and give you the opportunity to make valuable professional connections.
Here’s how it works:
• Submit a brief description (max. 3,000 characters, including spaces) by October 11, 2026 (template attached).
• The jury will select 10 outstanding entries and invite the finalists to develop their posters and present them to the jury in the run-up to the conference.
• At the conference on November 19, 2026, the finalists will present their projects to an expert audience during the Gallery Walk.
• The top 3 posters will receive awards—including recognition, feedback, and a prize.

• Gain experience interacting with a professional audience, giving presentations, and receiving feedback.

Instructions for Filling Out the Short Description
Use a maximum of 3,000 characters, including spaces (excluding name, degree program, and advisor’s name). To count characters: Select the text, then go to the “Review” tab, and under “Spelling,” select “Count Words.” You’ll find the required information in the pop-up window.
Use the structure provided by the form. Click in the fields and replace the category names with your information (e.g., name), adjust the headings, and paste your content into the text fields.
